Curtis Dubay
December 31, 2013 at 6:30 am

It’s about time for us to uncover our eyes and take a hard look at what 2013 did to our finances. Did you feel the pinch of the 13 tax hikes that hit Americans this year?

Before you review the list below, put these two on your watch list for 2014:

Life in the Emerging American Police State:

What’s in Store for Our Freedoms in 2014?

December 30, 2013
By John W. Whitehead

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”—George Santayana,
The Life of Reason, Vol. 1

In Harold Ramis’ classic 1993 comedy Groundhog Day, TV weatherman Phil Connors (played by Bill Murray) is forced to live the same day over and over again until he not only gains some insight into his life but changes his priorities. Similarly, as I illustrate in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, we in the emerging American police state find ourselves reliving the same set of circumstances over and over again—egregious surveillance, strip searches, police shootings of unarmed citizens, government spying, the criminalization of lawful activities, warmongering, etc.— although with far fewer moments of comic hilarity. President Obama Didn't Go To Church For Christmas - 2013
Neither did his wife or daughters

CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and their two daughters did not go to church on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, according to press pool reports. The Obamas are in Kailua, Hawaii for a 17-day Christmas vacation. Although the Obamas did not go to church for Christmas, President Obama did play golf during the afternoon of Dec. 24 and Mrs. Obama spoke with children by telephone on Christmas Eve for about 30 minutes concerning Santa’s whereabouts as tracked by NORAD.

  ▪ Steve Jobs: The lost interview -- and the Movie: Jobs

Have you seen the movie JOBS ?

I  just watched the movie JOBS
on DVD and really enjoyed it.

It brought back so many old memories from the early 80’s when DeKalb County Schools removed our IBM typewriters and replaced them with the little Apple II and then the Apple IIe computers. A few years later, all of our teachers very much wanted our labs equipped with the new Apple Macintosh computer.  That was not to be since a member of the DeKalb School board had close ties to IBM.  Therefore, our little Apples were replaced with the early IBM PC.

As a Business Ed teacher, I was forced into this world very much against my wishes.  However, after a few months of intense study
, a course in BASIC (followed later by MS DOS where my blonde hair turned white) and some software application courses, I became hooked.  It has been quite a roller coaster journey for this old gal who is now so grateful to have had this opportunity. It has opened so many doors after my early retirement.  At first I did desktop publishing and created several newsletters and small magazines.  In 2000 I bit the bullet, took a few courses in web design, bought several books on that topic and entered the exciting web world by creating simple but informative websites – primarily Republican ones. This was where my passion directed me.

  ▪ The Lost Interview

In a television interview filmed in 1995, Steve Jobs talks frankly about his early life, competition with Microsoft and his vision for the future. Below is a link to this interview on Netflix.  It will probably open for you if you have a Netflix account.  Try it to see.

Visionary Genius

Personal Note:

Obviously, I very much admire the true genius and hard work of Steve Jobs.  However, I was very disappointed to hear that he supported the Democrat party and Obama big time with HUGE donations.  Oh, well. Guess he drank the same Kool-Aid as did most of the liberal California and elite Hollywood crew – like Tom Hanks, etc.

A proposed bill in Oklahoma would require all public elementary school children to recite the Pledge every day. Do you 'like' this bill?Webmaster's personal comment: Wish all schools would do this. Just before I retired from Tucker HS (DeKalb County), my assistant principal called me out and told me that I could no longer require my home room students to stand and say the pledge since they feared a parent would sue. I thanked him for helping me make up my mind to take early retirement since they had already removed God, discipline and now patriotism. That was way back in 1992! A planned "dumbing down" of our public schools has gradually been going on for MANY YEARS. No wonder our nation is in such a mess! They have also re-written many of our American History books to fit their liberal agenda. Thanks to teacher unions, political correctness and teacher tenure it is almost impossible to get rid of an incompetent teacher in today's public school system. Heaven help this country!

  ▪ Chamber of Commerce to Spend $50 Million to Crush Tea Party
Breitbart.com -

On Christmas Day, the Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S.
Chamber of Commerce says it plans to spend at least $50 million to "support establishment, business-friendly candidates in primaries
and the general election, with an aim of trying to win a Republican
Senate majority."

"Our No. 1 focus is to make sure, when it comes to the Senate, that we have
no loser candidates," said U.S. Chamber of Commerce top political strategist Scott Reed. "That will be our mantra: No fools on our ticket."

GOP establishment officials hope to elide Tea Party challenges by shrinking the nomination process down to a tight four-month window replete with penalties for states that shirk the rules. Read more

Duck Dynasty Update

More than 250,000 people have signed a petition to A&E demanding that Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson be reinstated on the hit show.

Robertson, the 67-year-old family patriarch, was suspended indefinitely by the TV cable channel after he made remarks that have been slammed as homophobic and racist in an interview with GQ magazine.

The "I Stand with Phil" petition from Faith Driven Consumer, an online Christian organization, had surpassed by Friday midday its stated goal of 250,000 signatures.

Is It Possible to Be a Good Governor? [1967]

This first appearance of Ronald Reagan on Firing Line took place six months after he had been sworn in as governor. "There is much speculation," WFB begins, "on the subject of his future, speculation which I intend to avoid, because the purpose of this program is to ask whether it is possible to be a good governor. By that I mean this: Are we now so dependent on the Federal Government that the individual state is left without the scope to make its own crucial decisions?" A meaty discussion ranging from the way the states in turn squeeze the local communities, to comparative welfare payments in different states, to a favorite subject of WFB's: as Mr. Reagan puts it, "I know I'm accused of oversimplifying, but it doesn't make sense to me for the Federal Government to ... insist that the only solution to our local problems is for them to take the money and then dispense it back to you in grants in which they tell you how to spend it from Washington, D.C. And of course, like an agent for a Hollywood actor, there's a certain carrying charge that's deducted in Washington before you get it back again." View video

Duck Dynasty Backlash Rocks Cracker Barrel Back
Into Reality

December 22, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C.  This morning, Cracker Barrel restaurant chain announced the reversal of its decision to remove some Duck Dynasty merchandise from its shelves following A&E Network 's suspension of Phil Robertson. Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments to the thousands of supporters who have contacted the restaurant chain since Friday:  "You rocked Cracker Barrel back into reality! Cracker Barrel admits they were wrong to jump on the GLADD band wagon and ditch the patriarch of Duck Dynasty. While I am relieved, Cracker Barrel has tarnished their image. I would hope the advertising or marketing guru who convinced them to unnecessarily weigh in on A&E Network s loss of reality is shown the door. " Restaurants should serve food, not the politically correct mush of the Left. Maybe businesses who rely on the average working American to buy their products and services will think twice before signing up with the liberal elite. I encourage you to use your dollars wisely and know who you are supporting by going to www.2ndvote.com,"  concluded Perkins. -30-

Cracker Barrel: We screwed up big time
By Todd Starnes/  Published December 22, 2013/

“We were flat out wrong." That’s the message Cracker Barrel is sending to enraged customers after the restaurant chain removed Duck Dynasty items from its stores over fears it might offend people.

“Our intent was to avoid offending but that’s just what we’ve done,” Cracker Barrel said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings.”

One of those customers was Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. He said his family has eaten in nearly every Cracker Barrel in the country. “Cracker Barrel must be off their rocker,” he said in a statement to Fox News. “For Cracker Barrel to take the bait of an organization like GLAAD, which has led the attack on Phil Robertson, they are betraying the values of the vast majority of their customers.” Read entire article.

 ▪ GA State Reps. unveil anti-Obamacare legislation

Yesterday, Republican State Reps. (from left) Jason Spencer, Scot Turner, David Stover, Michael Caldwell, and Paulette Braddock, introduced at a press conference House Bill 707, titled The Georgia Health Care Freedom and ACA Noncompliance Act. From Christopher Collins at Examiner.com

"The bill's main thrust is to prohibit state agencies, officers and employees of the state from implementing any provisions of the Affordable Care Act, leaving implementation entirely in the hands of the federal government, which lacks the resources or personnel to carry out the programs it mandates," Spencer told the Washington Times.

Spencer stated that the bill's bite is rooted is anti-commandeering doctrine.

He said that this doctrine, which has been established by the United States Supreme Court (Printz v. United States), dictates that the federal government cannot force state legislatures to enforce federal laws.

In case you have been on Mars with no Wi-Fi. . . .

So happy for Jameis Winston and FSU!
Did not know until tonight that Jameis
came from a poor African-American family
in Alabama and his father was out of work.
He said that he was thankful to have a
father. One of the reasons Jameis is so
grateful to FSU is because they gave him
a scholarship. He could not have gone to
college without that scholarship.

I can relate to that since FSU also gave this poor gal from the Florida panhandle a full academic
scholarship MANY years ago based upon a very comprehensive and competitive scholarship
exam. My dad had died when I was 15, and my mother could not afford to send me to college.
God is good and does answer prayers. Never dreamed that Jameis Winston and I would have
this gratitude to FSU in common.  GO NOLES! On to victory in Pasadena.

 ▪ The "Convention of States" scam, the war over the Constitution, and how the
states sold the reserved powers to the feds

 By Publius Huldah

Our Constitution is a glorious document. This one page chart depicts the Structure of the federal government we created when we ratified our Constitution; and lists the "limited & enumerated powers" we delegated to the federal government over the Country at Large.

In a nutshell, our Constitution authorizes the federal government to handle the following objects for the Country at Large:

• Military defense, international commerce & relations;

• Control immigration & naturalization of new citizens;

• Domestically, to create a uniform commercial system: weights & measures, patents & copyrights, money based on gold & silver, bankruptcy laws, mail delivery & some road building;

• With some of the amendments, secure certain civil rights.

Basically, that's it. As stated in the 10th Amendment, all others powers are reserved by the
States or The People.

The gold plan is when you start to miss your wedding ring after you had to pay for the deductible. The silver plan is what color your hair is going to be after you sign up for it.”

▪ Empowering Patients First

by Congressman Tom Price of GA
The Republican in Congress do have a plan to replace Obamacare - (H.R. 2300)

As Obamacare collapses around us, Democrats in Washington are offering the American people a false choice: either stick with this disastrous law or let insurance companies run the show. But there is a third option — a better option — and that’s patient-centered health care.

As a physician, I have practiced patient-centered medicine, and as a lawmaker, I believe our nation should be implementing patient-centered policies. That’s why, for three consecutive Congresses, I, along with dozens of co-sponsors, have proposed these reforms as a replacement bill to Obamacare, the Empowering Patients First Act (H.R. 2300). ▪ Cobb Commissioners approve partial funding for future Braves stadium

By Katie Leslie and Tim Tucker - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
click on video below to view

The Cobb County Commission approved by a 4 to 1 vote plans for a new $672 million Braves stadium in
its backyard.

The crucial vote — which directs $300 million in taxpayer dollars to the development — comes just two weeks and a day after the Braves made a stunning announcement the team was moving from downtown Atlanta to the suburbs.

The baseball club and the five-member Cobb commission have since remained focused on today’s vote, with the Braves ignoring a call to reconsider from the Atlanta City Council and the commission rejecting pleas to delay the decision from critics of the hasty process.

Fans and foes of the deal began crowding into the meeting hall hours before the 7 p.m. hearing was to begin, many sporting “Cobb: Home of the Braves” T-shirts. The meeting began promptly and onlookers
who weren’t allowed into the packed room watched from beyond glass doors. Read more in AJC

▪ Trial date set for indicted Sen. Don Balfour
By Camie Young  -- camie.young@gwinnettdailypost.com

Snellville Sen. Don Balfour will face a jury next month — about a month before the General Assembly goes into session.

Balfour’s attorney Ken Hodges filed a demand for a speedy trial Monday on 18
charges of false statements and theft by taking involving per diem expenses for
legislative work. A Dec. 16 trial date has been set.

“The evidence will show that Mr. Balfour was entitled to many more reimbursements
than he took in error and he has reimbursed the State for all known errors. He admits there were errors and he regrets those errors,” Hodges said, pointing out that the
Senate Ethics Committee found the errors to be inadvertent in a hearing earlier this year.

“Mr. Balfour looks forward to Dec. 16 when, in a court of law, he expects a jury to reach the same conclusion,” Hodges added. “He is not guilty of these charges and looks forward to continuing his more than 20 years of exemplary public service to the citizens of the state of Georgia.”

The Man Behind the Campaign to Defund Obamacare -- from GA
National Journal – Tim Alberto
Note: We in Georgia are very proud of our Congressman Tom Graves -- both in the old 9th District and in the new 14th District.. B. Chambers

Tom Graves was a man ahead of his time.

Long before Ted Cruz was orchestrating 21-hour homilies on the Senate floor, Graves, a Republican congressman from Georgia, was waging a lonely—and largely anonymous—campaign to defund the Affordable Care Act.

Graves won
a June 2010 special election that brought him to Washington amid a dead legislative summer leading up to midterm elections. It was then that the former Georgia state representative saw an opportunity to influence the debate over President Obama’s recently passed health care law. And those efforts forever changed his path in Congress.

Having run in the months immediately following Obamacare’s passage, Graves felt a unique connection to the electorate and its disapproval of the new law. But he saw no Republican proposal to stop the government from paying for it. Intent on filling this legislative “vacuum,” Graves in July 2010 introduced the Defund Obamacare Act—the very first bill he authored in Congress, and one he would introduce in each new session.

Three years later, as Republicans grappled with a stalled appropriations process and ongoing anxiety over financing the law, the phone rang in Graves’s congressional office. It was a staffer in Cruz’s office. Cruz wanted to become the Senate cosponsor of Graves’s defund bill, the staffer said. Would the Georgia congressman be interested in teaming with the senator from Texas?

The rest, as they say, is history.  Read more

Conflict over cooperation…..sums it up pretty WELL!

Since George Will joined Fox, he has come out in the sunlight.  He is an erudite journalist who likes to use fancy
words when simple ones will do.  This article is a refreshing exception.

                                                   George Will on President Obama

America has had some great presidents, many mediocre ones and a
few bad ones. But we’ve never had one like Barack Obama.

▪ He’s the first who thinks the job is beneath him.
▪ He’s the first who turns political give-and-take into a crisis by refusing
  to negotiate with Congress.
▪ He’s the first who thinks the way to more power is to inflict pain on
  ordinary people.

The move to barricade the World War II memorial reveals the mentality of a tin-pot dictator. The limited government shutdown did not need to affect the memorial because it is open 24 hours, without gates and often without guards.

But to turn public opinion in his favor, Obama’s goons trucked in barricades to keep out World War II vets and other visitors. By one estimate, the barricades and workers cost $100,000.

The same punish-the-people attitude led to shutdowns of other parks and historic sites that get no federal funding. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting,” a Park Service ranger told The Washington Times.

The ranger cited the order to close the parking lot at George Washington’s home in Mount Vernon so visitors couldn’t use it. The cheap trick captured the contrast between a revered president and the current one.

I’ve been saying for a while that there is no bottom to Obama. He’s not just ruthless. He’s without scruples and honor.

Now the shutdown has ended, it will bring only a temporary respite from the crisis atmosphere in Washington. When it comes to his countrymen, Obama always chooses conflict over cooperation.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Carter can rest easy. We have a new worst president.

Common Core Lessons Bring Politics Into the Classroom

It’s exactly what critics of the Common Core school curriculum warned about: Partisan political statements masquerading as English lessons finding their way into elementary school classrooms.

Heritage Exposes Yet Another Problem with the Obamacare Website

 Lindsey Martin

Yet another Obamacare website fiasco developed over the weekend—and The Heritage Foundation got the scoop.

After discovering his existing insurance plan was being canceled because of Obamacare, North Carolina resident Justin Hadley
signed up for an account on HealthCare.gov. When Hadley logged on later to review his options, on his screen popped up the
eligibility information for a different family from another state.

This breach of privacy and data security is far from the only problem that has surfaced with the health care website. It’s just one in
a long list that keeps growing. Everything from people getting locked out of the website, to invalid premium statement information,
to the Obama administration’s a lack of honesty about the website’s problems.

Besides the privacy of millions of Americans being threatened, citizens’ freedoms, consciences, and pocketbooks are being violated
as well. Not to mention, President Obama went back on one of his biggest promises of all:if you like your health insurance, you can keep it.  What do you think of this latest Obamacare failure? Read more

(Las Vegas Review-Journal, April, 3 2013)

Barack Hussein Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. On the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within. Barack Hussein Obama was my college classmate (Columbia University, class of '83).

He is a devout Muslim; do not be fooled. Look at his czars... Anti-business anti-American. As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussein Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

Add up the clues below. Taken individually, they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a Socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival. And can be counted on to always vote for even bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it. Read entire article which is very enlightening! Read entire article

November 2 - Saturday Meal Plan: Your Week 10 TV
Viewer's Guide

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer - November 1, 2013

The Saturday Meal Plan fills you in on what to watch, when to watch and where to watch every Saturday during the college football season. This is going to be a great Saturday of college football viewing for yours truly. Not because there are a lot of great games on the schedule, because the truth is, this week's slate is actually a bit thin.  Read more

Georgia vs. Florida -- CBS, 3:30 p.m. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville is not the matchup of top 10 teams we all anticipated before the start of the season. Now it's just a matchup of two of the top 10 most injured teams in the country. However, it's still Georgia and Florida, and compared to the rest of the options this week, that's probably enough.

No. 7 Miami at No. 3 Florida State -- ABC, 8 p.m.
Finally! A top ten matchup! Albeit, it's a top ten matchup that currently has a 22-point spread, but it's still a top ten matchup! It feels like nobody is giving Miami much of a chance in this game -- of our six CBSSports.com "experts" only Jeremy Fowler even picked Miami to cover the spread -- but that just means Miami is going to win on some kind of crazy last-second Hail Mary or something.

  ▪ How’s It Look From Under The Bus, Mrs. Sebelius?
       Nov. 1, 2013 – Liberty Alliance.com by Spencer Brown

The Obama bus has struck again. No, not the giant Oprah-bus campaign behemoth, the career-ending bus that has come to be synonymous with the Obama administration. It’s made stops at Benghazi hearings, NSA hearings, and now it’s parked itself squarely on top of Kathleen Sebelius’ chair. She’s been tossed under its scrutinizing wheels just as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in the wake of Benghazi-gate.

It seems that working for the Obama administration has become exceedingly dangerous, and cabinet members have been mowed down for a variety of reasons, mainly for costing the President valuable (and now rare) political capital and public perception points. With his approval ratings tanking and both “phony” and real scandals dropping like the sandals of a family at the ocean for the first time, the need to give angry Americans some chum is strong.

So what’s an egomaniac like the President to do when problem after problem comes knocking at his door? Clearly, taking responsibility for the problems that happened on his watch would be unthinkable, so he has one of his cabinet’s expendable crewmen take the heat (and usually the fall). This week the bus came for the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius.  Read article

▪ John McCain – We’ll Pass Amnesty after the Primaries
       1 November 2013

  Read complete article

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) gave the clearest indication that proponents of comprehensive immigration reform may make their final--and strongest--push to get legislation passed next year after House Republicans make it through their primaries.

“I think conventional wisdom is that time is not on our side,” McCain told reporters on Monday after an event in Chicago. “But
there are a number of members of Congress who have primaries and when those primaries are done, they may be more inclined
to address the issue of comprehensive immigration reform.”

The Obamacare Sign up Disaster Continues!
No one being fired over this total incompetence!

Obama Said This with a Straight Face

“Thousands of people are signing up and saving money as we speak.”

Yes, President Obama actually said that yesterday about Obamacare. As we all know, for the vast majority of people, the opposite is true.
SIGNING UP? Most people have found it impossible to sign up for coverage through the Healthcare.gov website. In fact, some of the people standing behind the President during his speech—who were supposed to represent “success stories”—have not yet obtained coverage.
SAVING MONEY? Heritage research revealed that in 43 out of 47 states with information available, premiums are higher in the Obamacare marketplaces than in the individual insurance market.

The first problem—website signups—can be fixed. The second—Obamacare’s price—cannot.

Find your state and see how much premiums are going up >>>   this is scary!

Obama touted the fact that young people can stay on their parents’ plans until they are 26. But what about parents whose premiums are going up? Or people who are turning 27 and facing the disproportionately high cost burden that Obamacare puts on young adultsRead more on Heritage Foundation Morning Bell

Buzz Cut:
·        ObamaCare damage control

You know a Web site is in rough shape when the first fix being touted is to send people to a 1-800 number instead. That’s one of the repairs that administration officials are selling today ahead of a speech by President Obama addressing growing frustrations with the online home of his new health-insurance entitlement program, ObamaCare. The official position from Obamaland, laid out in a background briefing, is that the president will address “troubles that he and his team find unacceptable.” No doubt. The crash-prone Web site has become a huge embarrassment for Democrats who were hoping the rollout of taxpayer-subsidized insurance would soften resistance to the law. Instead, major problems with the sign-up portal, data reliability for those who make it through and sticker shock at the plans being offered are sapping public confidence in the plan pushed by the supposedly tech-savvy president.

▪ Ryan blasts Sebelius' silence on ObamaCare implementation inquiries

Published October 23, 2013 - FoxNews.com

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has repeatedly rebuffed requests by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan to testify on ObamaCare implementation, Fox News has learned, raising more questions about what the administration knew about problems with the site in advance of the troubled launch.

Republicans earlier had complained that Sebelius was not available for an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing set for Thursday. But, after her office cited a scheduling conflict with that date, the secretary is now expected to appear before the committee next Wednesday.

The decision comes as the HealthCare.gov site's failures have attracted widespread attention, and demands from President Obama to fix them. Yet Ryan, R-Wis., began asking Sebelius to appear before the House Budget Committee well before the rocky launch on Oct. 1, in order to provide more details on how the law would be implemented.  Read more

ATTENTION REPUBLICAN WOMEN! -- 2014 Expected to Bring More Female Governors

Republican Women Clubs, Federations and NFRW -- are you listening?

Current women governors: Mary Fallin, Nikki Haley, Allyson Swartz, Martha Coakley, Maggie Hasson, Wendy Davis

October 22, 2013

2012 was a banner year for women in Congress, ushering in a record-high number of women to the House and Senate. Next year may be an equally good year for female governors.

Thirty-six states will hold governor’s elections next year, and Democrats have top female recruits in at least five states who are poised to be their party’s nominee and competitive in the general election. Coupled with the four female governors who are running for reelection – three Republicans and one Democrat – observers say 2014 could see gains for women as states’ top executives.

“This is a year of opportunity at the gubernatorial level,” said Debbie Walsh, director of the Center for American Women in Politics at Rutgers University. “I think that there has been increasingly more and more attention paid to the issue of women in politics … there is some real potential here for growth.”

While women have made huge gains in the House and Senate – there are a record number of women in the 113th Congress – they’ve had more trouble breaking into governorships. The record number of women holding governor’s mansions at one time is nine, in both 2004 and 2007.

Currently, there are five: Republicans Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Jan Brewer of Arizona, Susana Martinez of New Mexico and Mary Fallin of Oklahoma, and Democrat Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire.

By John Eidson | October 8, 2013

Last August, Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens sent a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that stated, “In complete contradiction to every promise made by the President with regard to the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies in Georgia have filed rate plans that increase health insurance rates up to 198 percent for some individuals.”

The White House ridiculed Hudgens with the charge that he was just another anti-Obama Republican trying to frighten the public with malicious exaggerations about the new health care law. But as time would soon tell, Hudgens’ forecast of skyrocketing health insurance premiums would prove more accurate than even he had  imagined.

When implementation of Obamacare finally began last week (implementation was deliberately delayed until after the 2012 presidential election), the truthfulness of Hudgens’ contention is being driven home with a sledgehammer across the state of Georgia, and nowhere more so than in my own family.

Yesterday, my youngest son received a letter from his health insurance company notifying him that due to Obamacare compliance regulations, the bare-bones plan for which he now pays $67 a month is being discontinued in 2014. When his current plan expires, his insurer will offer its new lowest-cost plan that has Obamacare-mandated benefits he neither wants nor needs. The cost of that plan: $262 a month.

Because of Obamacare, my son is being forced by his insurer into a plan 400% more costly than the one he now has. That’s more than double the 198% increase predicted just two months ago by Georgia’s insurance commissioner. The stunning premium increase is not the only bad news my son faces. The new plan will have a $2,500 per incident deductible, a co-insurance cost of 30%, and a 40% increase in co-pays for in-network doctor visits.

In attempting to sell his health care plan to a skeptical nation, President Obama repeatedly vowed that the cost of health insurance would go down significantly for everyone, a promise only fools believed would ever be kept. With a health care law that forces insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions and provide instant coverage to uninsured people who suddenly become seriously ill, dramatic increases in health care premiums were a foregone conclusion.

Not everyone in Georgia will be hit as hard as my son. But millions of his fellow Americans, including those who trusted their president to level with them, will now learn firsthand the painful price of having been badly misled about the Affordable Care Act. My son stays on top of things and knew what was coming; he just didn’t expect such a staggering premium increase. But for low information voters who ignored persistent alarm bells about President Obama’s health care proposals, a series of nasty shocks caused by the impending Obamacare train wreck are barreling down the tracks.

The information below is more true now than when I sent it out in early September. If you haven’t read it, now is the time.

“I just see a huge train wreck coming”.

NBC: Police Remove Vietnam War Veterans at Memorial Wall
12:50 PM, Oct 5, 2013 • By JOHN MCCORMACK

Via William Jacobson, NBC's affiliate in Washington, D.C. reports that police ordered tourists and Vietnam war veterans who were visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to leave the memorial at one point on Friday. After one group of veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall was closed," NBC's Mark Seagraves reported. "Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That's when police came and moved everyone out."

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is a black granite outdoor wall on which the names of the 58,272 service members who died or were unaccounted for during the Vietnam war are inscribed. It takes more manpower and costs the government more money to close down an outdoor wall than to let people walk past it and pay their respects.

The Obama administration has been very selective in devoting resources to shutting down memorials.
