By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER  - The Associated Press - AJC

The former Massachusetts governor inched up to 572 delegates on Monday — exactly half the 1,144 needed — after the Tennessee Republican Party finalized delegate totals from its March 6 primary. Results in several congressional districts were too close to call on election night, leaving three delegates unallocated.  Romney got all three delegates. Read more

 ▪ Gingrich revamps campaign to deny Romney nomination
Webmaster's note: WHY?   Is he really that bitter? This is getting embarrassing.

  By KASIE HUNT
The Associated Press - Published: March 29, 2012

LOS ANGELES — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is drastically reorganizing his money- and delegate-deprived campaign, scaling back a traditional operation to focus on low-cost social media and an effort to cajole delegates to back him over front-runner Mitt Romney.

One-third of Gingrich’s campaign staff has been laid off and his campaign manager has been asked to resign, Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond said Tuesday night.

The new strategy hinges on preventing Romney from winning the 1,144 delegates he needs for the nomination, Hammond said. Gingrich plans to spend much less time in primary states and will instead personally call delegates to try to persuade them to back him at the Republican National Convention in August. Read more

Supreme Court Ruling of the Century??

Day 3. Obama Care review by the Supreme Court

All oral arguments have now been heard. Final decision predicted to be made in June.

Justices Ponder Striking Down Entire Obamacare Package
Wednesday, 28 Mar 2012 03:06 PM - News Max Wire

The Supreme Court's conservative justices are hinting that they might have to strike down Obamacare entirely because declaring the individual mandate unconstitutional would require nullifying the entire law.

“The court's conservatives said the law was passed as a package and must fall as a package,” the Los Angeles Times reported. Although the court is expected to rule by late June on the fate of the President Obama’s signature legislation, Justice Antonin Scalia hinted that the decision might be a fait accompli even at this point.

"One way or another, Congress will have to revisit it in toto," the Times quoted Scalia as saying.

Gingrich fires third of campaign staff, cuts back on schedule
By CAPITOL HILL BLUE Staff March 28, 2012

With his struggling campaign strapped for cash and his failed message failing to resonate with even the GOP fringe, Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich is firing a third of his staff — including his campaign manager — and cutting back on his schedule.

Campaign manager Michael Krull is gone, replaced by longtime advisor Vince Haley. Sources tell Capitol Hill Blue Haley is working for expenses only. “The campaign is broke,” one campaign aide said. “We’re out of money and out of steam.”

Gingrich dropped a hint early Tuesday that changes were coming, saying “money is very tight obviously.” A few hours later, word came down from the campaign that a third of the staff were out. Money is so tight that Gingrich is charging supporters $50 a piece if they want a photo taken with him.

Despite the cuts, Gingrich still clings to the claim he is in the campaign until the contention in Tampa in August.  Read more in the Atlantic Wire.

Walter Shapiro - New republic
Despite Newt Gingrich’s best efforts, it looks like the world is going to have to save itself. A humiliating third-place finish in Saturday’s Louisiana primary should have extinguished the last embers of Gingrich’s wildfire dream of a second-ballot victory at the GOP Convention. Any Newtonian fantasy about stopping Mitt Romney in Tampa requires the former House speaker to continue to accumulate convention delegates. But Gingrich—after winning a combined 9 percent of the vote in Louisiana and the prior Illinois primary—is now in the goose-egg phase of his descent into irrelevance. Read more

Applause rang out on the Senate floor Thursday as a major tax plan received final passage. The show of emotion was as much relief that the measure should soon be law as it was delight at the final vote.  The numbers on the board read: 54 in favor, 0 against. 5-state rule another convention hurdle for Gingrich
By Daniel Malloy The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- Newt Gingrich’s tortured, long-shot path to the Republican presidential nomination relies on a contested GOP convention where no candidate has a majority of delegates before it starts.

Among the many hurdles Gingrich must overcome to sustain his campaign is one crucial qualification to get on the ballot at the August convention in Tampa -- Gingrich must have the most delegates from five states already in his corner. Of 33 contested states and territories, the former U.S. House speaker from Georgia has won only the South Carolina and Georgia primaries thus far. Read more

Public School Education
Webmaster's note:  As a retired high school teacher, I can certainly relate to what Jeffrey Wick is saying.  I had become so concerned with the direction our public schools were going, that I had made many notes and was planning on writing a similar expose book after retirement.  However, I discovered Dr. Thomas Sowell had already written it all in his great  book, Inside American Education. The Decline, the Deception, the Dogmas - 1993.  This nation and especially parents need to wake up to what is going on in our public schools. We  have some really good teachers; however, in the past  20  years the teaching field is attracting entirely too many teachers who are not intellectually equipped or motivated to serve properly. Tenure and "political correctness"  is protecting these incompetent teachers.  Just look no further than  the Atlanta public school system or the DeKalb County system where I taught.

Public Education
The “Final Solution” in the Conquest of America’s Ideals
by Jeffrey Wick

Anyone who watches the headlines knows that war is raging in our nation. The liberal agenda to destroy America’s three cornerstones of exceptionalism and transform our nation into a socialist country is becoming more blatant by the day. What many parents and educators fail to realize, however, is that this agenda is already gaining ground in communities across the fruited plain through an avenue few would expect. Read how the public school system
  • Attacks family values, Christianity, and American patriotism.
  • Erodes America’s traditions and Christian foundation.
  • Pushes the state religion and a spirit of governmental dependence.
  • Encourages physical, moral, and intellectual weakness.
  • Handicaps students from achieving their full potential.

Written by an educational insider, this eye-opening expose, a must-have for every concerned parent and educator, describes the 235-year plan to hijack American democracy. It also reveals a destructive philosophy, based on Plato’s Republic, America must abandon to avert God’s judgment.

One correction to the story: Brian Laurens is not a "Ron Paul" supporter, but he was ousted from the convention for good cause.  Reporter did not keep facts straight.

CANTON — A nationally orchestrated plan by Ron Paul supporters to disrupt county Republican conventions in an attempt to get their delegates elected to the national convention in Tampa, Fla., made waves in Cherokee County and resulted in police making an appearance at the gathering of local GOP members.

Canton Police officers were dispatched to the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center Saturday afternoon after a party member allegedly refused to follow parliamentary procedures during the delegate selection process. According to an incident report from the police department, First Vice Chair Brian Laurens was ejected from the convention for interrupting the procedures. Laurens, who on Thursday called the incident minor, resigned from his position with the party in the days following the convention, citing family and business obligations as the reason he was stepping down.

"For far too long, establishment politicians have gone to Washington with their own agendas and with no intention on serving the people that they were elected to represent.  Residents of northeast Georgia deserve better!

"I am meeting with voters in coffee shops, restaurants, and homes to discuss my candidacy, but more importantly - to listen!  Together, we can enact real common-sense solutions that will put this country back on the path to prosperity."

At the end of Martha's tour around the District, she will release the M.A.P. (Martha's Action Plan) to Prosperity, which will directly reflect the priorities and legislative agenda of the people, not the pundits or political elite in Washington.

SC GOP leaders push for Gingrich to leave presidential race
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich left the Palmetto State in late January with a decisive victory in the state GOP primary.

Despite that victory, Gingrich would not win another primary or caucus again until Tuesday night when he won the primary in his home state of Georgia. Now, the former director of Gingrich's campaign here in South Carolina says it's time for the Speaker to end his campaign
. . .  Fundraising pioneer and Conservative activist Richard Viguerie also suggested Gingrich call off his campaign and throw his support to Santorum.

Gingrich remains defiant. He says he'll remain in the race for the upcoming primaries in Alabama and Mississippi and caucuses in Kansas.

Gingrich win in Georgia on Super Tuesday may not be enough

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Newt Gingrich appears likely to win the Republican presidential primary in his home state of Georgia on Tuesday but his plan to launch a wider "Southern Strategy" to recover his front-runner status looks less of a sure thing. A poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research showed Gingrich well ahead of his competitors in Georgia, with 38 percent of likely Republican voters indicating they plan to vote for him. "The polling says that he's ahead. It doesn't say that it's a landslide," said Georgia Republican Party Chairwoman Sue P. Everhart. "I think all of them will get something." Read more

▪ All about the Georgia primary
Georgia is one of 10 states voting on Tuesday to help choose the Republican presidential nominee. The state's 76 delegates are the biggest prize of Super Tuesday. It takes 1,144 delegates to win the nomination at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this summer. Following Tuesday's vote in Michigan and Arizona, The Associated Press estimates the delegate count to be: Mitt Romney, 147; Rick Santorum, 84; Newt Gingrich 29; Ron Paul 18; Jon Huntsman, 2. Here's a closer look at each candidate's Georgia-based endorsements, their fund-raising in the state and how the process will work.

SBA LIST CANDIDATE FUND ENDORSES
'PRO-LIFE LEADER' MARTHA ZOLLER

(Gainesville, GA) - Popular talk show host and leading conservative candidate for Congress in Georgia's 9th Congressional District Martha Zoller was endorsed today by the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate fund.

"The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate fund is proud to endorse Martha Zoller for Congress," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "There truly is no better way to inaugurate a new Congressional District than with a strong pro-life leader -- and Georgia's 9th Congressional District deserves just that."

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 365,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.

"I am honored to have the strong support of the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate fund and applaud their efforts in advancing the pro-life cause in America," said Martha Zoller. "In Congress, I will always defend life, oppose abortion, promote adoption, and fight the use of any taxpayer funds being used for abortion or unethical research."

Herman Cain, Citizens United Political Victory Fund, Georgia Right to Life, Move America Forward, Docs 4 Patient Care, and conservative talk show hosts Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Erick Erickson have also endorsed Martha Zoller for Congress (GA-9).

Charter schools bill tabled in the GA Senate - Feb. 29, 2012
By Wayne Washington - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
After a nearly two-hour debate, the Georgia Senate decided against voting on charter school legislation that split the body along party lines.  Wednesday's action shows the bill faces an uncertain fate in the Senate after having won two-thirds support in the House.Delaying the vote does not mean it won't be passed during this session. But two-thirds of senators would have to support it for it to pass, something that is out of reach for the moment.  Read entire article

Martha Zoller for Congress - 9th Congressional District of Georgia

MARTHA KICKS OFF CAMPAIGN WITH
PRO-TROOP + MAFPAC SUPPORT!
This weekend, our longtime friend Martha Zoller officially kicked off her campaign for congress in her own hometown of Gainesville, GA. We welcome her decision to run for office, something people have been asking her to do for years and, because we know she supports the troops, we pledge our support to her candidacy.

Martha's kickoff  event was well attended by veterans, military families, tea partiers and radio listeners, as she is a household name in the community.

"Every morning for the past 15 years, folks have turned on their radio and heard Martha's conservative message. People already know what she stands for." said her campaign manager Ryan Mahoney at the rally in downtown Gainesville.

At MAF we look for candidates who support the troops, that's our most important issue, and we know that Martha is a huge supporter of our military and their missions to keep America safe and free.
She's so committed that she's traveled to Iraq TWICE to help the troops and Gold Star families that she cares for so much!

Presidential Preference Primary for
Georgia set for Tuesday,
March 6, 2012

S
ecretary of State Brian Kemp has announced that Georgia’s 2012 presidential preference primary will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.  Secretary Kemp was given the authority to set the presidential primary date via a modification to Georgia’s statutory code during the 2011 legislative session. Substantial rules changes by the RNC leading up to the 2012 Republican National Convention resulted in states that are “winner-take-all” states like Georgia not having the ability to hold their primaries without losing ½ of their potential delegates if the primary was held before April 1, 2012.

Behind the scenes, much planning and labor was completed by the Georgia Republican Party to facilitate this decision. Secretary Kemp worked closely with party leaders prior to his formal announcement. The GAGOP Rules Committee and State Committee convened to approve a rule change that allowed the Secretary Kemp the flexibility necessary to ensure that Georgia voters would remain a strong voice in the 2012 primary process as we select our next President.

Prior to the rules change, Georgia was a winner-take-all system and would have lost ½ of its delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa if the primary was held before April 1, 2012. The proposed change to the GAGOP allows Georgia’s delegates to be allotted on a proportional basis if the Georgia primary was held before April 1, 2012.

The GAGOP commends Secretary of State Brian Kemp for his efforts and diligence in the selection of March 6, 2012 as the presidential preference primary date in Georgia.

GOP sweep named top Ga. story of 2010

Base bails on Democrats in droves
By Chris Joyner - AJC
Georgia Democrats enter the upcoming 2011 session of the General Assembly reeling from a series of defections and facing an uphill climb toward relevance. The once-dominant party holds 85 of 236 seats in the House and Senate, Democrats’ lowest ebb since Reconstruction. And the number has been slipping. Read entire article
