MARTHA ZOLLER RECEIVES 'THUMBS UP'
ENDORSEMENT FROM SARAH PALIN

Yesterday MAF's longtime friend and now candidate for congress Martha Zoller received another huge endorsement, this time from one of our heroes, Sarah Palin.

“If you agree that it’s time our elected officials stopped talking at us and started listening to us, then I hope you will join me in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress from Georgia’s 9th Congressional District...Martha has been fighting for conservative causes for years as an award winning radio show host.

- Former Alaska Governor
Sarah Palin

The article from Examiner.com also lists many of Zoller's other endorsements

Ms. Zoller's camp was quick to also note the other endorsements received thus far: FreedomWorks, Tea Party Express, Susan B. Anthony List, Georgia Right to Life, Citizens United, She-PAC, Maggie's List, Conservative Action Fund, Move America Forward, Docs 4 Patient Care, Herman Cain, and conservative talk show hosts Erick Erickson, Mark Levin, and Sean Hannity.

- EXAMINER.COM

It’s not every day you get to help one of your best friends get elected to the U.S. Congress, and we're extremely excited to support our friend Martha Zoller in her race to represent Georgia’s 9th congressional district.

It was through her career as a radio talk show host that we got to know and respect Martha Zoller. Back in 2005 when Move America Forward organized our first trip to Iraq, we were looking for the best radio show hosts in the country who were dedicated enough to put themselves in a war zone in order to get the story.

Melanie Morgan, MAF’s chairman along with Martha Zoller and a handpicked team of radio professionals from across the country, traveled to Baghdad, Iraq where they spent over a week interviewing troops at Camp Liberty to get the story straight from the source.

The Voices of Soldiers project earned awards from Associated Press for best special program and Martha Zoller shared in that.

She was so moved by her experiences in Iraq that year that the next year she went back again, this time to bring a grieving family to the place where their son gave his life for his country.

Martha has always been a stalwart supporter of our troops – that’s what we liked about her in the first place, and that’s why we brought her to Iraq in 2005. She’s always stood up for our military men and women, even when it was not the popular thing to do. Back in 2005 and 2006 when it seemed everyone was trashing the war, Martha stood by groups like Move America Forward in defending our troops and their missions overseas.

That’s’ why we’re proud and excited to ask for your help in supporting her campaign now.

At MAF we have long DREAMED of having more people like Martha Zoller in congress. She’s exactly the kind of person we have always wanted to run for office, and she’s finally decided to do so. Please make a donation now and help our friend Martha Zoller and visit her at marthaforcongress.com

GOV. SARAH PALIN ENDORSES CONSERVATIVE FIREBRAND MARTHA ZOLLER FOR CONGRESS

(Gainesville, GA) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed conservative firebrand Martha Zoller for Congress today in Georgia's 9th Congressional District.

"If you agree that it's time our elected officials stopped talking at us and started listening to us, then I hope you will join me in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress from Georgia's 9th Congressional District," said Gov. Palin via e-mail.  "Martha has been fighting for conservative causes for years as an award winning radio show host where she has been a voice for the Tea Party movement.

"Martha is running against the establishment, which, as we know, is an uphill battle; but with all of our support she can win. In Congress, she'll vote to cut spending, lower taxes, and repeal Obamacare. In addition to being pro-life and a firm defender of our Constitution, including our Second Amendment rights, Martha is a strong fiscal conservative. Her "MAP for Prosperity" plan calls for increased accountability, bold reform, and citizen engagement - three things we need more of in Washington.

"I hope you'll join me and other conservatives like Sean Hannity and Mark Levin in supporting Martha Zoller for Congress!"

A strong supporter of the Governor's efforts to restore conservative values and principles in America, Martha Zoller personally requested Gov. Sarah Palin's endorsement earlier this year.

"I am thrilled to have the strong support of Gov. Palin in my efforts to represent Georgia's 9th Congressional District in Congress and restore fiscal sanity in Washington," said Zoller.  "Together, we will fight to put this country back on the right track and ensure prosperity and opportunity for many generations to come."

WASHINGTON (AP) – Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney promises to name his vice presidential running mate before the party convention in late August, and the betting is the risk-averse candidate will pick the safest possible candidate — certainly no one like Sarah Palin who was pulled from obscurity four years ago by John McCain . . . .

Many political experts are predicting Romney will turn to Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio or Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, all prominent Republican figures, each a tantalizing pick for different reasons. There recently was buzz surrounding Condoleezza Rice, who served as former President George W. Bush's secretary of state. She has said, however, that she was happy in her return to academia. Read more

Slugger 2Time Out for Braves Baseball

July 7 UPDATE

Bourn named to NL All-Star team after all – updated - read more

Philadelphia – It wasn’t exactly the direct route, but Braves center fielder Michael Bourn was finally named to the National League All-Star team on Saturday as a replacement for injured Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond, who will sit out the game to rest a sore oblique muscle.

Bourn has been through the ringer this week, first going through the disappointment of not making the original roster, of having to go against teammate Chipper Jones in the “Final Vote” before Jones, the sentimental favorite, was named to the team as a replacement for the injured Matt Kemp.

Then Bourn spent two days garnering strong support online only to finish second to Cardinals third baseman David Freese in the Final Vote on Thursday afternoon.

Then came word on Saturday that Desmond was going to miss the game and Bourn was in after all. He’ll join Jones, Dan Uggla, Craig Kimbrel, and assistant trainer Jim Lovell as the Braves’ contingent to Kansas City.

7:55 pm July 9, 2012, by jgalloway - Read article

The Senate Transportation Committee on Monday voted swiftly and unanimously to confirm Toby Carr as the state’s transportation planning director, the semi-final step in his appointment. Gov. Nathan Deal nominated Carr, a political aide, to replace Todd Long, a career transportation planner and engineer.

  • Advisory opinions could affect Deal cases
By Aaron Gould Sheinin - AJC July 7, 2012

A series of draft advisory opinions from the state ethics commission could spell more
trouble for Gov. Nathan Deal.  A commission attorney recently released four draft opinions  interpretations of state ethics laws — that will likely play a significant role in deciding
whether a series of complaints filed against Deal move forward. The commission meets
July 23 and is expected to take up five complaints pending against Deal. The complaints, largely based on reporting by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, accuse Deal of:
        ▪ Personally profiting from his campaign's aircraft rentals
        ▪ Improperly using state campaign funds for legal bills related to a federal ethics
           investigation
        ▪ Accepting campaign contributions in excess of legal limits.
