9th Congressional Race
Collins edges out Zoller in race to represent 9th District in U.S. House Read More in Gainesville Times
Congratulations to Martha Zoller for running a GREAT race! She would probably have won if she had been in another district.
August 19, 2012
Established July 2000
9th District Run-Off
If you are actually still on a fence on this race, allow me to make this as simple as possible to understand.
Pro-TSPLOST Republican Doug Collins is being backed by three (not just one, not just two, but three) T-SPLOST tax hike backers: Governor Deal, David Ralston, and Zell Miller.
Martha Zoller came out against the T-SPLOST because she is a fiscal conservative in the truest sense of the word. Collins, Deal, Ralston, and Miller are all professional politicians (who, between them, have a total of around 70 years worth of service in politics...have they even heard of a real job? They wouldn't recognize a real job if it bit them on their rear-ends, would they?), and who all love tax hikes when it does not hit their pocketbook.
The fact that Ralston and Deal (both currently elected "Republicans") backed TSPLOST, and they back Doug Collins, demonstrate that they are more about protecting a good 'ole boy tax-hike racket than trying to represent the true fiscal conservative values of the 9th District's inhabitants.
Collins is nothing but a status quo politician and that's all he'll be in Congress if the 9th District is sorry enough, and misfortunate enough, to be stuck with him as their U.S. Representative.
Vote for Martha Zoller in the 9th District Run-off this Tuesday, a person who does not kiss the rear-ends of pro-tax-hike "Republicans." (sic)

Governor Deal makes robo call today endorsing his young friend Doug Collins for Congress from the new 9th District
Read text of his message below
It is a shame that our busy governor involved himself so strongly in this congressional race. Surely, the governor has most pressing problems for all of Georgia than this race. He should be working to replace his failed T-SPLOST which he supported so strongly, our failing school systems, jobs for Georgians, balancing our waning department budgets, etc, etc. Many believe that Collins will cater to the wishes of our governor if he is elected to congress. We had many years of Congressman Deal, and it is now time for someone who is a strong conservative who will not cave to the wishes of career politicians in Washington. Martha Zoller has the courage to stand up not only to Obama for also all who vote for more taxes as Collins has done in the GA House. Martha also very much knows and practices the values of North Georgia -- and all of Georgia.
When 9th District voters go to the polls on August 21, we pray they will think long and hard about who will best represent WE THE PEOPLE OF GEORGIA – not the political establishment.

GOVERNOR NATHAN DEAL KNOWS OUR NORTH GA VALUES
Conservative Governor does robo call for Collins, notes his strong legislative record
Gainesville, GA -- Today throughout the 9th District, voters will hear the voice of Georgia Governor Nathan Deal on their phone lines. Governor Deal has completed a 42 second audio file on behalf of his friend and Congressional candidate, Doug Collins (R-Gainesville). Deal lives within the new 9th District, and therefore will cast a vote in Tuesday’s Republican run-off.
"Governor Deal is a dear friend and most importantly he is a resident of the 9th District," Collins said. "Nobody knows the values, hearts, and minds of Northeast Georgia voters better than Governor Deal, and I am honored that he would do this for me and our campaign."
Governor Deal's audio reads:
"Hello, this is Governor Nathan Deal. I just wanted to thank you for honoring me with the privilege of serving our great state. As you prepare to vote in Tuesday’s Republican runoff, I wanted to tell you about my good friend, Doug Collins. Doug has served as my Floor Leader in the State House, and he’s helped me enact laws that protect life, crack down on illegal immigration and cut taxes to promote jobs. A Christian conservative, Doug Collins will stand up to Barack Obama, eliminate wasteful spending and cut the debt as well as our taxes. Again, this is Governor Nathan Deal. I thank you for your time."

In Congress, Martha will lead efforts to fundamentally change ‘business as usual’ in Washington and implement conservative solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems.

Blockbuster documentary now in theaters nationwide. See list of theaters
Immersed in exotic locales across four continents, best selling author Dinesh D'Souza races against time to find answers to Obama's past and reveal where America will be in 2016. During this journey he discovers how Hope and Change became radically misunderstood, and identifies more »new flashpoints for hot wars in mankind's greatest struggle. The journey moves quickly over the arc of the old colonial empires, into America's empire of liberty, and we see the unfolding realignment of nations and the shape of the global future.
This afternoon my husband and I went to Snellville, Georgia and viewed this block-buster documentary. It was well worth the journey. The film was well documented and produced in a most professional manner. The theater was about three quarters full of mostly middle aged and senior citizens who were most attentive. At the conclusion of the film the audience cheered and applauded endlessly. Various people yelled --YEAH!-- WELL DONE - TELL YOUR FRIENDS - SEND ON FACEBOOK - TELL EVERYONE TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER, ETC. ETC. Never in all of my years of viewing movies have I seen an audience respond in such a positive manner. Most people stood in the lobby and discussed the movie for a long time with people they did not even know. It was most encouraging to see voters this energized. Workers at the theater told us that all showings had been well attended. Never once did the film say "Vote for Romney or Do not vote for Obama" It just presented the researched facts.
Don't know how long it will be playing in Georgia, so go as soon as possible. We hear that it will be out on DVD in September. Please purchase and show at private parties. See list of theaters -- Bettye Chambers

Deal had 90 percent stake in failed store
By Shannon McCaffrey - AJC
Nathan Deal and his wife owned 90 percent of a failed sporting goods store started by his daughter and son-in-law by the time it closed, according to documents released by the state ethics commission through an open records request
The ownership by the Deals in the Habersham County venture is greater than they had previously acknowledged. The financial woes of the business became an issue during Deal's 2010 campaign for governor.
During the race, Deal downplayed his involvement in Wilder Outdoors, which went out of business in March 2009. Deal — who with his wife co-signed for $2.3 million in loans that launched the store — said at the time that he was simply a father helping a child. The Deals also invested another $2 million in Wilder. Read more

MARTHA ZOLLER LAUNCHES TELEVISION AD FOR RUN-OFF
MARTHA ZOLLER LAUNCHES TELEVISION AD FOR RUN-OFF
(Gainesville, GA) - Martha Zoller has launched a television ad exposing Doug Collins' record of raising taxes while serving as a representative under the Gold Dome.
For months, Doug Collins has run a smear campaign in an attempt to tarnish Martha's rock-solid conservative record. In the ad, Zoller fights back with the truth about Doug Collins' Gold Dome record and reiterates her strong support of life, traditional marriage, and Christian values.
"With Doug's votes to put the T-SPLOST referrendum on the ballot, to approve the hospital bed tax, and to extend the hotel/motel tax to pay for the Falcons' new stadium, it is clear that Doug Collins has no problem raising taxes," said Ryan Mahoney, Campaign Manager for Martha Zoller.
The ad will run on cable television straight through the Aug. 21 runoff election.

at the GA State Capitol
You immediately start to think you're special --you're entitled. You begin to think you're not supposed to be held accountable or that you don't have to answer to the people anymore.
People like Doug Collins who drink that water for a long time start to believe that their opinion is the only one that counts -- that they are allowed to create, out of thin air, their own facts.
But there's a movement brewing in America. It's led by conservatives like Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, and Herman Cain. It's a movement to clean out Washington; to set a new standard. Enough with the professional politicians! Enough with business as usual!
The establishment water cooler types are scared to death. They're whining, "How dare you question us! Don't you know we're professional politicians!" Read more
VRG Webmaster's comments:
It is not surprising that that some Republicans, especially in the mountains of the 9th District, feel compelled to please the GA Speaker by supporting Doug Collins. The Speaker, who has endorsed Collins and was co-host for a fundraiser for Collins, resides up in North GA. Some Republican leaders up in that area who are seeking some kind of special state appointment dare not defy the Gold Dome leadership. Instead of thinking what they can get out of this election personally, they should be thinking who would best serve Georgia and the nation in Congress. We need an articulate and well informed person who is familiar with politics not only in Georgia but across the country. That person is Martha Zoller.
Ladies, are you not growing weary of always being represented by the good ole boys of Georgia? I certainly am. -- B. Chambers

T-SPLOST Penalty Call-to-Action - Read complete message
by Transportation Leadership Coalition
On Friday, the Transportation Leadership Coalition called on the Governor and the Georgia General Assembly to remove the penalty in the Transportation Investment Act of 2010 (also known as TIA or HB 277). As a reminder, T-SPLOST is the funding mechanism for TIA. The citizens of 9 regions across our state overwhelmingly said "NO" to T-SPLOST and therefore "NO" to TIA. However, the TIA states that any region that votes "NO" is penalized of its own fuel tax money by 30 percent. That, my friend, is an intimidation to vote "Yes" to tax yourself!
The Governor's response to the people's call to remove the penalty?
"The Governor swore to uphold the laws and constitution of the state of Georgia; There is no provision allowing him to suspend a law such as this through executive order, outside of some emergency scenario." The Governor's Office added, "Conservatives have rightly criticized President Obama for abrogating laws through executive order; the rule of law is sacred." read more

Zoller for Congress from the new 9th District of GA
We need to do everything possible to help get Martha elected to Congress. Most of us are tired of career establishment politicians going to Congress who do not stand up to their promises once they get there. They cave to the wishes of those in power. Martha will stand strong on her promises and will not make a life career of serving in Congress. She will not vote for tax increases as Doug Collins has done in the GA House. GA is LONG overdue a strong conservative woman who will represent all of us. One of the best ways to support Martha right now is to make a donation no matter how small (or large). Donations from concerned conservative voters outside the 9th district of GA are most welcome since Martha will be working for all conservative Republicans while in Congress. Learn more about Martha and her MAP for Prosperity. Click on the red donate link below.
